Jeneson & Sandy Abraham
Fall 2011
Hello all,
It feels like I just got done writing the last prayer letter, but here the time has come again to update you all on what we have been up to in the last few months. We had a great summer of sun, playing, and visiting with friends. The kids enjoyed going to the park and the many play dates with friends. Josiah is growing so tall, Lydia is full of zeal for life, and Sofia is such a joyful little girl. This fall is filled with fun and activities for the kids as Josiah and Lydia are involved in AWANAS, gymnastics, and Little Lambs (a one day a week morning preschool program) and Josiah is in a music class. Sofia can take a few steps and will soon be running all over the place trying to catch up with her older brother and sister.
Jeneson worked for a few weeks at his alma mater before God showed him something else. He recently completed his contract at a community clinic in DeKalb that serves the under and uninsured population of that area. He really enjoyed his time there with the wide range of patients and great staff and was able to become more comfortable examining and treating children. He is patiently waiting for God to bring him the next contract.
Sandy has been busy keeping up with everybody else’s busy schedule while trying to get in a couple of book clubs, coffee dates with friends, and finding time to work out before the craziness of the day starts. This fall will be no different as she will be shuttling the kids to their various activities and starting to home school Josiah and taking care of the household.
The biggest development is that Sandy and Josiah took a 2 week trip to Sierra Leone! The people were friendly, the Sunday worship was lively, the roads bumpy, and the prayers many. They had a wonderful and productive trip. Josiah was a great travelling companion and had an absolute blast making MANY new friends in Mokanji. His 5th birthday was one that not many kids have – he got to spend it in an airplane, ice cream at Heathrow Airport in London, and landing in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Sandy was able to watch as the trusses for the house were put up and the water pipes roughed in; by the time this letter reaches you the zinc will be on the roof, we will have doors and windows, and the plumbing and electrical roughed in! She was welcomed with open arms by her new neighbors, both African and Canadian, who are looking forward to when the whole family will come. She also was able to see some of the medical challenges that she and Jeneson will face in caring for the people of the Mokanji area.
Please continue to partner with us in prayer as we get closer to being given the green light to move to Sierra Leone. Pray for us as we continue to prepare spiritually, medically and personally for our move to Mokanji. Pray for the people of Sierra Leone, that they will continue to be open to the message of the Gospel and accept the free gift of salvation in Jesus Christ. As you are praying for us and our preparation for Sierra Leone, also pray for Charles and Petra Wirrell who are already doing a great work there building relationships with the people and working hard to get our house done.
We are ever so thankful for those who continue to be faithful in giving on a monthly basis and grateful for the many one-time gifts. Please prayerfully consider partnering us. You can use the enclosed card to indicate your willingness to support us and mail it back to GOM. We know that God has brought us this far and will prove Himself faithful in completing what He has laid on our hearts. Also, please send us your current e-mail address to our e-mail address above so that when we are in Sierra Leone we can send out more frequent updates via e-mail. Check out our blog to read more details about the trip that Josiah and Sandy took and to see updated pictures of our house.
Blessed,
