Spring 2011
To our friends and family,
Our God is an AWESOME God!! As always, He has not failed us, has provided for us and taught us many things over the past 3 months since our last letter. As usual our lives have been full of adventure, transition and God’s immense love for us.
January started out warmly since we spent the month in India visiting Jeneson’s family. While the flights were a different story, we had a great time visiting with Jeneson’s parents, sister, niece, and nephew. The kids conquered their jet lag during the first week and then spent the next three playing with their adult cousins (they are 23 & 21 years old), taking walks, and drinking nimbu pani (street limeade). Josiah had fun watching street parades from the balcony. Lydia was absolutely smitten with her cousin Jonnathan. And Sofia just enjoyed being loved on by her Grandparents.
While we were in India a renter finally came through for the condo; a true answer to prayer since we view this as God freeing us up to go to Sierra Leone. We arrived back in Illinois just in time for the blizzard of the decade! Josiah & Lydia had a blast since they had their own personal sledding hill in front of their Grandparents house caused by a 5 foot high drift and snow shoveled from the nearby driveway.
Sandy’s parents have been extremely gracious in letting us stay with them while Jeneson is looking for a job and we determine where we are going to live. May God bless them abundantly for going from a peaceful house with just the two of them to house filled with the activity of our three busy kids! After a month of no real job prospects, Jeneson has accepted a temporary position that will go until the third week in June and through the generosity of friends, we may also have a place to live soon. God has continued to be faithful in opening doors in both the job and housing areas in ways that only He can.
Work is forging ahead in Sierra Leone. In the beginning of January, Charles and Petra Wirrell arrived in Sierra Leone. Charles is overseeing the hospital and housing construction, and being trained on how to dig wells by a visiting team from the US. Petra is making contacts with the locals and hosting and assisting the recent short-term teams. In January and February alone 5 wells were completed and two short-term teams assisted in construction at the hospital, housing, and local schools and held medical clinics.
Thanks to all who have lifted us up in prayer these last few months, they were certainly needed and definitely felt. We are still in need of prayers. Please continue to pray for us as we seek God’s will for Jeneson’s job and a place for us to temporarily lay our head. Pray for the people of Sierra Leone, that God continues to work and make their hearts fertile to hear the amazing story of the Gospel. Pray for those already on the ground in Sierra Leone and the work taking place there. As always, we would love to receive calls or e-mails from you about how we can pray for you and how God is working in your lives.
While we are anxious to get to Sierra Leone, we are trying to be patient with God’s timing and know that He is continuing to prepare us for the work there. And we still need your help in getting us there. We are currently at 60% of our support raising goal and need to be close to 100% before we can go. Our ability to go depends on people prayerfully pledging to support us on a monthly basis. We are humbled by the faith of those who have already given and to those who continue to partner with us regularly. One time financial gifts are greatly appreciated, but we are asking for people to share our vision for the people of Sierra Leone and pledge $25-$100 a month. Please prayerfully consider partnering us. You can use the enclosed prayer card to indicate your willingness to support us and mail it back to GOM.
Also, we enjoy any opportunity to tell others of the desires that God has laid on our hearts and how He is working in our lives. So, if you are interested in hearing more or think that your church or small group or any other gathering would like to hear us speak, please contact us.
We know that God has brought us this far and will prove Himself faithful in completing what He has laid on our hearts.
Blessed,
Jeneson & Sandy Abraham
Josiah, Lydia, and Sofia
